If Issuu.com is the place to upload your own publications, Zinio.com is the place to download current & past issues of magazines. You can download the latest copy of pretty much any magazine for a fee but then you can read it whenever you live, keep it forever, have it already uploaded onto your computer for screen capping purposes and it won't take up space in your home. Of course it doesn't have the appeal that printed matter does - the smell, the feel of the paper, the ability to read it wherever, not just on your laptop - but its not a bad deal, especially as I seem to have managed to subscribe to Nylon magazine (my fave!) for free instead of $3.99 an issue...
This kind of thing is perfect for an iPhone or iPad as they are incredibly portable and you then can read it anywhere like a real magazine. I think this shows how the magazine industry is advancing with new technology. Magazines do sell because people like the original content. Its not like the music industry where everyone just downloads torrents for free. I think this is a convenient way of viewing a magazine. It does not signal the end of print because people will always want to read something when they go on journeys and not everyone can afford an iPad. But say if you're house bound, are really busy or just plain lazy this method of delivering magazines is a great advancement in my opinion.
